Baby Slings & More
Baby Slings & More
Human infants have been carried by their parents or caregivers for centuries. Versatile and supportive, baby wraps are the most commonly used method for wearing infants from birth through toddlerhood.
Manufactured since 1972, DIDYMOS baby wraps come in a wide variety of lengths and materials. Most of them are woven wraps made from pure cotton or blends with other fibres, all of them GOTS certified. Our Jersey wraps are knitted from cotton, silk or wool blends.

Silk
Silk - delicate and robust
Silk is a natural animal fibre and is collected from the cocoon of the pupated silkworm. It has a natural sheen and is very light, but at the same time is tear-resistant.
Tussah silk, i.e. natural wild silk, is often woven into the DIDYMOS slings. Tussah silk is obtained from cocoons of the oak silk moth after the moth has hatched. These are collected in nature. Therefore, this "wild silk" is somewhat irregular, which is its special charm. It appears in natural tones a

DIDYMOS was founded in 1972 as the first babywearing company when Erika Hoffmann, after the birth of her twins, was looking for a practical way to manage her everyday life while remaining close to her four children. A wrap from South America in which she carried her children was her solution.
This idea quickly inspired other families and found support from midwives and paediatricians - and so she laid the foundations for the return of babywearing to our society.

Linen - the most sustainable fibre
Linen is a fibre derived from flax with an incredibly good ecological balance. Flax is grown regionally and mostly in Europe, whereby the flax plant is extremely frugal and requires little to no pesticides or fertilisers. Like our cotton, our linen is GOTS certified. It is also grown without genetic manipulation and requires very little water. Linen is completely biodegradable and compostable.
At the same time, linen has terrific properties: it is breathable, t

Cashmere
Cashmere - fine and soft
Cashmere wool is a fine, high-quality and very soft fibre that is combed from the undercoat of the cashmere goat at the end of winter, i.e. at the time of the natural hair change. Similar to sheep's wool, cashmere stores heat - but up to six times better! It is also cuddly soft and moulds to you like a second skin.
Precious slings with cashmere
Cashmere slings are particularly soft and extremely elastic. They have excellent wearing properties, are soft and delicate and a

How a Sling Emerges
How a Sling Emerges
After the dyeing and weaving process, it's off to the sewing room. Here the DIDYMOS baby sling is sewn from long lengths of fabric. First the fabric is hemmed lengthwise, then cut to the right length and then the diagonal hem with care labels gets stitched. At the very end, the centre points are "dotted".
Did you know? Our classic DIDYMOS baby sling is shaped like a parallelogram. Only this particular cut gives it a practical reserve of fabric, which allows the sling can be t

DIDYMOS Wrap Sling – Since 1972
Babies and toddlers all around the world feel safe and secure in wrap slings produced by our family-run company in Ludwigsburg.
We would like to introduce ourselves with this film and give you an insight into our company and our company’s philosophy. The family business is now managed by Tina Hoffmann. At a tender young age, she and her siblings were one of the main factors in DIDYMOS coming into existence in the first place.

Wearing babies in winter
I'm sure you know them too, the horror stories: Babies would get too cold in a baby wrap sling or carrier and it is much too dangerous to carry them in it in winter.
Fortunately, this is nonsense! Common sense tells us that babywearing in winter is much safer for babies than lying in a stroller. When you're carrying your baby, you not only have a much better view of him or her, but you even warm him or her with your body heat.
However, in

Wearing babies in summer
Do you know such sentences as: "Wearing in summer is much too hot!" or: "The baby sweats too much and overheats in the cloth!"?
We do too!
This well-intentioned advice can be quite unsettling, but luckily we know there's nothing to it.
You can continue to carry your baby in hot temperatures without worrying. You don't need a special baby wrap sling for that. However, if you are expecting a spring baby, it may be worth considering a few thi

Babywearing Is Love
DIDYMOS was founded shortly after the birth of twins Tina and Lisa. Ever since, we've been dedicated to promoting babywearing and re-establishing the practice in our Western society. Checklist: What should I look out for when buying a Sling?
Who better to answer all the important questions about choosing the right sling than Tina and Anna Hoffmann? After all, the two sisters have been acquainted with slings from an early age. It was their mother, Erika, who established sling-based babywearing in Germany in the early 1970s. Tina and her twin sister Lisa spent the first few years of their lives being put in a sling, while Anna held mom’s hand, ensuring they all got from point
Carrying Twins
Carrying twins in a sling or baby carrier
Did you know that DIDYMOS is ancient Greek and means twin?
That's not without reason!
Erika Hoffmann, the DIDYMOS founding mother, knew about the special challenges of life with twins (and siblings). When she became a mother to her own twins Lisa and Tina almost 50 years ago, she searched for a way to give her newborn twins the same closeness and attention as their two older siblings had had. And, of course, to manage everything around the house on the s
5 Benefits of Babywearing
5 Benefits of Babywearing
In many cultures, carrying a baby close to the body has been the only way for parents or caregivers to transport a child. While carrying a baby in a carrier was also practiced in Europe for centuries, it gradually fell out of style in Western societies in the 19th century with the rise in popularity of prams and strollers along with new parenting attitudes. The relationship between children and parents grew more distanced as parents worried about spoiling their children
DIDYMOS in the Media
DIDYMOS in the Media
It all began in 1972 with an article in the June issue of Germany’s Stern magazine which presented Erika Hoffmann as a modern woman who carried her children in a sling.
There are now many other media outlets, print and online, reporting on the topics of babywearing, sustainability and fair production in conjunction with DIDYMOS. You will find a selection of these publications here.

My mother began Didymos in Germany in 1972, 45 years ago. DIDYMOS was born out of one woman’s desire to carry her newborn twins, of which I was one, as much as she wanted. Every solution starts with a problem. For Erika Hoffmann, her problem was having four children, but only two arms. She needed a way to carry her babies, but also have some freedom to function - a problem I am sure many of you understand. My mother never intended to be a groundbreaker but she instinctively understood
